Whenever I am gifting a new mom, I think about 3 possible gift categories:
1.) Gifts that will make their life easier.
Mom-life is stressful and busy. If there is any gadget in the world that makes life easier, get it! They are now busy taking care of another human being, so everything else needs to be taken care of efficiently. Gifts that are time-savers and take over work for you are always a hit.
2.) Gifts that mark baby milestones or are personalized
Diaper bag, baby body, or toy. These are pretty convenient presents for new moms or, better, the newest addition to their family. But they are not really unique, and chances are she already checked them off from the baby registry. So I like to go for a personalized gift or items that mark baby's new milestones.
3.) Gifts for self-care
Self-care is a big deal once you become a new mom. Taking care of yourself not only becomes the least priority but there is also very little time. But then again, self-care is so important for them because they need to recharge on as much energy as possible.

I am not lying when I say that I probably spend more time in my pajamas now than ever. Especially during those newborn days, I would not even think about changing into anything else. And even on lazy Saturdays or Sundays, or even when I just know that I won't leave the house anymore, I immediately change into my comfy yoga pants. So a robe is not incredibly comfortable. We all know that water boosts our energy. Inbetween a diaper change and trying to get that baby to sleep, it can be difficult to get a glass of water. But with all the energy you are giving to a baby, staying hydrated is so important. Even more so if you are breastfeeding. A water bottle will help you keep track of the amount of water you need to drink. Get a matching one for the father or even the baby (they can use it in the future). Pumping breast milk can be really time consuming. But with a wearable breast pump it is a much easier job. They easily fit under a top or nursing bra and you have your hands free.
